What do we think of the cover-art for the reissues of Douglas Adams’s sublime Hitchhiker’s Guide novels? I know what Ian Sales thinks. He thinks the ‘new cover art for Hitch-Hikers’ Guide to the Galaxy novels makes them look like self-published books.’ That’s what he thinks. (Check out the complete set here)

That's what she said.
But yeah… They suck.
They aren't great covers but I think I've seen worse. I'm hoping the thumbnails over on Suvudu just make them look pixelated. Otherwise, it looks like Microsoft ClipArt in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
It hurts my soul that someone didn't feel the need to create nifty covers for one of the great series of our time. The Hitchhiker's Guide made me want to write in the first place. Those covers make me want to curl up into a little ball and clutch my leather-bound version.
Just to add: I absolutely share Adam's sentiments, there, but should note that that Adam is not me. I'm the other Adam, whose name is at the head of this post. Also: isn't Adam a great name? More people should be called Adam.
Patrick: agreed.
"…Microsoft ClipArt in SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE…"
Or: J-PEGS! IN! SPAAACE!
I've now seen an actual copy in a bookshop. The first book comes with a sheet of stickers; and the idea is that you decorate the starscape on the cover to your own design … which is slightly less crap than I initially thought. The other vols in the series don't have this feature, though, and therefore remain mired in crapness.
Ah, it's like Beck's The Information then.
Adam I think you have totally missed the point of the covers. Its Douglas Adams not Stephen King. The point about Hitchhikers is that its a satire on life with an air of "I couldnt give a stuff because nothing is provable" so anything other than depicting something just plain odd and unexpected with a touch of fun to it would be daft.Maybe Hitchhikers is too British for you palette.
"Maybe Hitchhikers is too British for you palette."
This could very well be true, Anonymous. I have to admit I've never really understood the British.
All you need to understand is that you talk our language.
